Blue Jays are some of the best clients at my little bird spa. The level of contentment on display here is kind of ridiculous #birds

Very floofy Blue Jay (a blue and white and black and grey bird) is soaking in a shallow bird bath with soft focus shrubbery in the background. It's bright blue crest is very pointy and the bird is in quarter profile, looking coyly at the viewer. The comfort and satisfaction is evident.

Autumn 2026 - Day #24 of Bird Ringing A more productive day than yesterday, with a good variety of species recorded. The Willow Warbler was the most abundant species, followed by the Blackcap. In total, 60 birds representing 19 species were ringed during the day.

Bald is beautiful! And normal for blue jays (and cardinals) this time of year. Bluey is rocking the 'catastrophic molt' look, dropping all her head feathers at once. This happens in late summer, coinciding with the availability of fatty seeds and food abundance, allowing them to be replaced fast.

Autumn 2026 - Day #23 of Bird Ringing Another quiet day at the nets, but we still recorded a decent variety of species. Once again, the Blackcap was the most abundant species, followed by the Willow Warbler. The day concluded with a total of 46 birds ringed across 16 sp.

(Extra) Miniature birds 64 - Anna's Hummingbirds
